For this season Hernan Lander proposed a captivating union of polished and rustic essentials. Material elements and semi-precious stones revealed their authority on the beadings, the prints and the detailing of the clothing. Modern day architectural marvels imposed their structure on the precise cuts of the jackets and the asymmetric bands. Wool, cashmere, matt jerseys, leather and snake skin created a soft and hard juxtaposition of textures while femininely curved shoulders and flexible zipper structures emphasized Hernan’s love for the female body. The palette was monochromatic with dominant purple accents. The unmistakably sumptuous couture creations created a feminine essence that was sophisticated and sensual, complex and aware. The collection highlighted pieces like silk tops, structured jackets, ruched fitted skirts, ultra feminine dresses and red-carpet-worthy evening gowns.
Hernan Lander draws upon his experience observing fashion trends in both Europe and the United States, giving him a well-rounded perspective and allowing him to expand his own design horizons. His exquisitely crafted designs have garnered public attention and attracted a discerning and growing clientele. He has found New York City to be an inspiration - not only because of its cultural and lifestyle diversity and cosmopolitan views - but also because of the willingness of its people to break with the norms and take fashion risks.
This year’s collection was inspired by the architectural marvels and the beauty of different regions and cities of the world and is a tribute to the inner and outer beauty of women around the globe. The theme was the continuing journey in the endless pursuit of beauty. Hernan used luxurious materials that fall beautifully on the female body incorporating the principles of haute couture.

“It was like walking up to the plate in the world series and hitting the ball out of the park at first bat,” said Jim Fortescue, owner of Nautora, the official licensee and manufacturer of Guy Harvey Jewelry. “I couldn’t possibly envision a better promotional opportunity than on the pages of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue for our nautical jewelry line.”
Just a few years ago, the primary place you might see Guy Harvey’s artwork outside of a picture frame, was on fishing t shirts worn by salt water fishermen. But that has changed as evidenced not only by the Sports Illustrated swimsuit models, but by the millions of dollars in Guy Harvey clothing being sold through retailers across the U.S. and online to a wide variety of people of all ages.
“Guy Harvey clothing, jewelry, and other licensed products are really striking a chord with a broad cross section of people across the country,” said Bill Shedd, owner of AFTCO Bluewater, the licensee for Guy Harvey apparel and operator of the newly launched official online store GuyHarveySportswear.com. “We have watched long lines of people of all ages wrapping around the block, waiting for an autograph at Guy Harvey’s signing events...Moms with 10 year old sons, Dads with 17 year old daughters, and college students both male and female,” Shedd continued.

Britney Spears commented, "Annie, Mark and Terry are three of the biggest photographers in the world, I am honored to be working with them for my Candie's Only at Kohl's ads. It was an amazing shoot and I know my fans are going to love the cool images."
The campaign, a series of photographs of Spears as seen through the lens of each master photographer will debut with a four-page insert in the April issue of Seventeen Magazine as well as online at candies.com and Kohls.com. In particular, this source manual could prove to be helpful to MSMEs and SMEs in the textile sector as it will help them bring out impressively designed products. In short, it is a must have for every textile designer.
The book which took 12 months to compile contains around 400 designs and has drafted with assistance from Textiles Committee, a entity under the Ministry of Textiles, under its cluster development initiative.
Interested textile designers or companies may place their orders for the book with Mr Vikram Kumar on +91 98947-97774.

For Spring 2010, Cole Haan has partnered with fashion photographer Todd Selby (aka "The Selby") to create a new advertising campaign, "The Inspired Life." The imagery celebrates family, friends, art, nature, community, competition, adventure, and love -- the forces that drive and color our lives.
The campaign portrays real life individuals wearing Cole Haan, chosen for their unique approaches to life and style, reflective of the Cole Haan brand. Each individual was shot in their natural environment, producing a campaign that reveals everyday interests rendered meaningful and beautiful.
The tastemakers selected for the ad campaign include Harley Viera-Newton, a professional DJ and NYU student, Nicola Vassel, gallery director for Deitch Projects, Johnny Knapp, a writer, surfer, and entrepreneur, Magda Wosinka, a music industry photographer and guitarist, Moses Berkson, a photographer and music video director, and James Bond, a designer, surfer, and skater. International tennis sensation, Maria Sharapova the face of Cole Haan for the past two seasons and co-designer of a capsule collection for the brand -- is also featured.
As Cole Haan expands its digital presence, partnering with a photographer widely known for his work through TheSelby.com was a fitting match. Visitors to colehaan.com can view in-depth portraits of the tastemakers including slide shows, behind-the-scenes videos and The Selby's quirky handwritten interviews. Selby says, "By working with creative and dynamic people for this collaboration with Cole Haan, we were able to highlight the youthful and energetic spirit of the brand. It was a super fun project that developed very organically and I think that comes across in the photos."
The campaign will be supported with a fully integrated marketing campaign including a debut in the March issues of top women's and men's fashion titles, online, out of home, direct mail and in-store.

Designed by UAE national Afra Al Ghafli for Oshia Fashion Design, the abayas feature diamonds, crystals, cultured pearls, turquoise and silver discs, embellishing the natural black silk fabric and one of the creations is hoped to be presented to Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak.
Mrs Al Ghafli credits the ‘mother of the UAE nation’ as her inspiration, a woman who taught UAE national women how to be charitable, generous, creative and hard-working.
“We were honoured to learn that Oshia Fashion Design had created the abayas exclusively for The Bride Show Abu Dhabi,” said Lucy Clarke, Exhibition Director for The Bride Show. “The catwalk shows are always one of the most popular features of the exhibition and visitors are in for a treat at the finale of the Oshia collection on Friday at 6pm”.
The Bride Show Abu Dhabi, taking place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre until Saturday 13 February under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Sheikha Bint Saif, wife of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, offers brides-to-be and her family a one stop shop to planning a wedding.
It has also become a must-attend event for fashion-savvy women in the UAE capital who come to see local and international designers’ latest collections on the catwalk as well as shop for haute couture evening wear, abayas, jewellery, make up, handbags and homewares.
And, as Valentine’s Day approaches, romance is reaching fever pitch on the exhibition floor. On the second day of the show, Arushi, one of the most established design houses in Dubai, gave away an off-white and pink dress, adorned with Swarovski crystals and exclusively designed for The Bride Show Abu Dhabi to celebrate the most romantic day of the year.
The dress, worth AED20,000, was the finale centrepiece for the Arushi catwalk show and was presented to one lucky visitor in the audience by Mireille Loughlin, the designer. In celebration of Valentine’s Day, anyone who visits The Bride Show Abu Dhabi wearing red on the final day, Saturday 13 Febuary, will gain free entry.

Florida of the 1980’s with its easy-going mood and breezy feel has been a major source of inspiration. The juxtaposition of masculinity, lightness and playfulness in colour and cut, gives a look that is sensual yet manly and relaxed with a hint of glamour. Softly tailored suits mixed with casual t-shirts and espadrille style shoes sums up the mood.
To get that crumpled laid back look, most of the fabrics are pre-washed. The casual look can be found on cotton summer suits, as well as shirts ranging from classic white styles with rolled up sleeves to brighter tropical check patterns and sand washed silk. Jersey tops are either relaxed pastel t-shirt styles with generous necklines and button fronts or more sophisticated with collars and detailing. Linen is a summer favourite, ranging from sloppy knits and jersey tops to elegant summer suits.
